Balik Eskwela Year 5: AMPC

continues advocacy to

children’s education

EDUCATION—considered as one of the BASIC RIGHTS of every children. It is a known tool to secure one’s future. But what good is education without enough resources to be educated? That goes to say that there is no such thing as RIGHTS if it is not EMPOWERED—and AMPC understands this well.

Early in the morning of July 16, 2016 aboard three vehicles, the volunteers of AMPC braved the mountainous road to Malamba Elementary School which has been the second home of the children coming from the Matigsalug and Obo Manobo tribes. Hundreds of bags filled with School Supplies are being brought by the AMPC volunteers in the highlands of Marilog District, Davao City.

The volunteers were warmly welcomed by the students, parents and teachers of the school. Each of them were eagerly waiting to see what’s inside the boxes being unloaded by the volunteers.

The activity dubbed as  “Balik Eskuwela Program Year 5” has bridged the gap of educating less fortunate students in the countryside for the last 5 years. AMPC

The simple gesture of AMPC to the Malamba Elementary School has brought a big impact to them. Datu Vicente Maing also expressed his gratitude to AMPC for the effort. The chieftain shared that most of these students uses cellophane instead of bags in attending classes, and that every time it worn out they will just hand carry their stuff going to school.

On the other hand, the representatives from the lab cooperative thanked Agdao for the experience to become volunteers for the social programs of AMPC.

Ms. Nonette P. Datulyta said that all of the employees of AMPC together with the partners and members all collaborated for the Balik Eskuwela Year 5, and that they are looking forward to helping more schools soon.
